when I was a boy , i loved to go on the Mekong river bank to watch at the boat racing which starts from the bank of Ban HouyNangli,Thakhek to Ban HouysaKham opposite with WatKang Temple. me and other friends or some time with brothers went to the river bank and watching the racing there. The boat usually comes from different villages and districts around the province and some years the boat from the other provinces such as Bolikhamxay and savanakhet had participated.
Boat racing festival or ark phan sa festival for Buddhism and as for the year 2010, the festival will be starting around 23 th October to 24 th October .
it is said that, Boat racing can help the nature to reduce the volume of water and to celebrate the end of raining season and welcome to the harvest season.
