Russia to build the Hydro electricity in Laos

MOSCOW, Aug 21 - Russia's hydro-electricity giant Rushydro is considering 2-3 projects in Laos to build hydro-power stations with a capacity of 150-250 megawatts each, an industry source familiar with the projects said.


"We are not just talking about local power generation, but about the possibility of exporting power to China," the source told Reuters.
The landlocked southeast Asian state has been shaping itself into a battery for its power-hungry neighbours by damming up its rivers to tap hydro-electricity.
